Food Industry Angry At FDA Over Salmonella Investigation
Washington (ChattahBox) - The National Restaurant Association, the main trade group in the restaurant industry, is none too pleased with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to say the least.
They have asked Congress to investigate the FDA and how they are handling the salmonella outbreak, which was believed to be linked to tainted tomatoes.
The National Restaurant Association, as well as others in the food industry are growing angry and tired with the FDA and their investigation into the salmonella outbreak, which started 3-months ago.
The FDA has failed to this point to find a direct source of the salmonella outbreak, and the latest reports state that tainted tomatoes may not even be to blame
The National Restaurant Association, according to the Wall Street Journal, has lost $100 million across the industry.
Many restaurants and other food suppliers have stopped using tomatoes completely, as the FDA looked very closely at farms in both Florida and Mexico, but to this point all samples they have collected have come back negative.
As the outbreak continues, the food industry appears to be getting rather angry at the FDA.
